Purpose: Provides information and services on benefits and entitlements to active duty Soldiers and families preparing for retirement and provide courteous quality service regarding retirement benefits and entitlements to all retired personnel and their family members.

The Retirement Service office supports all newly arriving military members and their families and helps transition them in relocating to and from the New York Metropolitan area.

Some services provided are: Assist with changing, starting or stopping Survivor Benefit Election (SBP), Assist with pay account issues, assist with changing allotments, assist with changing beneficiary information, assist with updating retiree's mailing address, assist with changing bank account information, assist with change tax filing and withholding status, request copies of the 1099-R for tax purposes, provide active duty death briefings, and assist National Guard and Reserve Soldiers to apply for their retirement pay and benefits at age 60. Conducts a quarterly retiree council meeting, assist with providing pre-retirement and transition assistance briefings. Prepares a annual retirement newsletter and conducts an annual Retiree Appreciation Day event.

Retiree Appreciation Day

Fort Hamilton will host its annual Retiree Appreciation Day October 28 from 8 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the
Armed Forces Reserve Center, Bldg. 212 General Lee Ave. The gala will include fitness tours, financial advice, health screenings and more.
