Welcome to the Harbor Defense Museum. Our mission is to collect, preserve, exhibit and interpret historically significant materiel related to the history of Fort Hamilton and New York City’s harbor defenses. In addition to the exhibits in the museum, we maintain the Cannon Walk area designed to provide a historical perspective of the ordnance used during the coastal defense era. The museum provides educational programs and services for military and civilian audiences. Two staff members and approximately 20 volunteers operate the museum.
To learn about becoming a volunteer, contact the museum director at 718-630-4349.
