Public Affairs
Welcome to the Directorate of Public Affairs. Public Affairs advises and assists the garrison commander and staff with public affairs activities, including command information, community relations and media relations. The PAO is the sole release authority for public information and acts as spokesperson for the command. The PAO’s function is to provide timely, accurate and truthful communications about the command and its activities to all members of the public including military personnel, retirees, Family members and the American public.
Command information,
also referred to as internal information, refers to communication on behalf of the command group to internal audiences, including service members, retirees, civilian employees and Families. Internal information is disseminated in the following methods:

Community relations
aims to increase interest in the Armed Forces, stimulate patriotism, and engender support for the force. Speakers, military personnel and equipment are available to participate in civic events by request. The request will be processed and a decision of ability to support will be provided. Please submit requests on
DD Form 2536
for speakers or support at least 60 days in advance via e-mail to
PAO
or fax to 718-630-4723.
Media relations
liaise between civilian news media and military personnel, civilian employees and Families to tell the Army story. Media relations professionals operate under the premise of "maximum disclosure with minimum delay" and we are eager to increase awareness of Fort Hamilton and our people in mainstream media. Media relations professionals also are available to provide media engagement training to military personnel, civilian employees and Families upon request.
